Uganda (March 31, 2015) – Delta Company of the Ugandan Special Forces Command (SFC) culminated their joint combined exchange training (JCET) with a closing ceremony today.

The 8-week JCET gave the U.S. Navy SEALs, who hosted the training, and the Ugandan operators a chance to learn from each other and share military and cultural knowledge. JCETs also give them the opportunity to build and strengthen partnership between the nations.

The SFC is a specialized, rapid deployable component of the Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF). The SFC has also been active in the AMISOM mission, which is the African Union Peace Keeping Operation in Somalia.

“We worked on the core skills of special operations in a wartime environment,” said the officer in charge of the SEAL training cadre. “Your training is never over.”

In attendance were the commandant of the training facility, the Delta Company commander, a U.S. Embassy attaché, and the SEAL training team.

“I appreciate the skill you have given us and we shall use that skill wisely,” the Delta Company Commander said. “On behalf of SFC and Delta Company, I promise our training will be continuous.”

During the closing ceremony, the trainees received a certificate of completion, marking the beginning of many years of joint work and specialized missions.

The U.S. Embassy attaché NAME? said, “You have taken a burden upon yourself as a soldier in special forces. Your country expects more of you than its regular citizens and the rest of the UPDF.”
